ALT AND TITLE TAGS IN HTML

 

HTML provides two basic ways to add descriptive text to page elements. The alt tag and title tag. They work in similar way but have quite different purposes.

HTML alt Tag  

< element =”text” … /> . It supplies an alternative description of the element. It is often shown in the space where an image would normally appear. The alt tag we used for a text is shown to visitor when their browser does not display the element itself. It can appear inside a tag.(Matt Doyle | Elated Communications,2022)

HTML title Tag

< element =”text” …/>. It provides additional information about the element. The text you use for title tag is shown to a visitor as well as the element itself. Many browsers display title text in a yellow tool tip that appears when you hover your mouse over the element. It sometimes also displays in the status bar. It is always used as optional, no HTML element requires to include a title tag.(Matt Doyle | Elated Communications,2022)                                                                                                                                                                       

Alt and Title tags in SEO Improvement

Search engines and other robots can not interpret images, but images can play a crucial part how people interpret a particular web page. Alt tags provides text which are reads by search engines. Alt tags are also useful for users viewing a webpage on screen readers or browsers that cant process images. Title tags are important for SEO because they provide users and search engines, with the context on the respective page.
